Don not only served as a governor of St. Anselm’s College for a significant duration, but he was also one of the founding members of the “Old Anselmians” rugby club. He held the position of club chairman for an exceptional 17 years, spanning from 1953 to 1970. The Anselmians rugby club might justifiably designate Don as the “Founder” of the organization. The club owes its existence to Don Roberts, whose exceptional leadership as chairman and unwavering financial and emotional backing were vital in its early development. Don’s absence would result in the nonexistence of our rugby club.

Don played as a front row forward during his career. Subsequently, he assumed the role of a referee and presided over matches involving lower-tier clubs for several years. Don was delighted when he visited Eastham a few months back and saw the newly built clubhouse and facilities that were created with tremendous zeal. Don Roberts was an exceptional individual with a wry wit. In addition, he was a devoted family man and a staunch advocate for both the Anselmians Rugby Union Football Club and St. Anselms College.
